CIVIL AVIATION ORDERS Section 20.11 includes a requirement for air crew to undergo an annual proficiency test of emergency procedures.
For operations on pressurised aircraft where the provision of oxygen is
required, air crew must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the effects of
(iii) duration of consciousness at various altitudes without supplemental
(iv) gas expansion;
(v) gas bubble formation.
The purpose of GO2AltitudeR Flight Personnel Hypoxia Training is to provide
theoretical knowledge on all of the above and to provide practical
experience relating to (i), (ii) and (iii) without the risks of (iv), (v).
The training provides an individual experience of the symptoms of hypoxia
and a demonstration of the resulting deterioration of cognitive function.
